WILD MARY SUDIK!

Originally drilled by the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil Company, the Mary Sudik No. 1 well was named after the Vince and Mary Sudik farm where it was located. On March 26, 1930 When the crew attempted to bring in the well, a critical mistake led to a blowout. For 11 days, it gushed uncontrollably, releasing over 200 million cubic feet of natural gas and 20,000 barrels of oil. Dubbed "Wild Mary Sudik," the well became infamous for its massive eruption. It was finally capped on April 6, 1930, prompting the implementation of stricter safety regulations in Oklahoma City's oil fields.
