WHEN RIVALS TEAMED UP TO POWER THE FUTURE

Transcrição: On November 21, 1985, amid Cold War tensions, U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met at the Geneva Summit and did something unexpected—they agreed to collaborate on a bold scientific venture: developing nuclear fusion energy.

That historic proposal gave rise to ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), now under construction in southern France. Designed as the world's largest tokamak, ITER aims to recreate the energy of the sun here on Earth—offering the promise of clean, nearly limitless power for future generations.

What began as a diplomatic gesture between two global rivals became one of the most ambitious energy projects in history—a testament to how cooperation can spark innovation even in times of division.
