VIETNAM'S OIL INDUSTRY TAKES SHAPE

On November 27, 1961, Vietnam established its first dedicated petroleum exploration unit, known as the Oil Exploration Brigade. This marked the beginning of the country's national oil and gas industry, setting the stage for decades of exploration and production.

The formation of the brigade represented a significant step toward energy independence, enabling Vietnam to identify and develop domestic reserves. Over time, these early efforts evolved into Petrovietnam, the state-owned company that now oversees exploration, production, and refining operations across the country.

Vietnam's oil and gas journey highlights how strategic planning and early investment in energy infrastructure can transform a nation's economic and industrial landscape, fueling growth and development for generations.
