THE FOUNDING OF FOREST OIL COMPANY

On November 12, 1916, a group of independent producers in Bradford, Pennsylvania joined forces to form the Forest Oil Company. What began as a local merger quickly grew into one of the most respected names in American oil and gas.

Forest Oil earned its reputation through innovation. The company helped pioneer secondary recovery techniques, finding ways to draw more crude from wells once thought to be dry. These advances not only boosted production but also changed how the industry managed aging oil fields.

From a handful of operators in Pennsylvania to a leading independent producer, Forest Oil's story is one of persistence, problem-solving, and progress—hallmarks of the American energy industry.
