ITER - Giant Tokamak Reactor in Southern France. It was originally proposed in 11/21/1985. Ground Breaking in 1/29/2007. Iter is located on a 42 hectare platform which took just less than 2 years and 3 million cubic meters of rock and soil to be removed. By spring of 2009 the leveling works had been completed and actual construction could begin. There is an estimated 5,000 people regularly present on the worksite
