EAST TEXAS OIL FIELD HITS RECORD PRODUCTION

On December 23, 1950, the East Texas Oil Field reached a historic peak, producing over 1 million barrels of crude oil per day. This output not only solidified the field's status as a critical component of the U.S. energy supply but also underscored the rapid growth of American petroleum production following World War II.

At the time, the field spanned more than 140,000 acres and contained over 30 billion barrels of recoverable oil, making it one of the largest oil reserves in the United States. Its production supported domestic industrial expansion and contributed significantly to global crude markets during the mid-20th century.

The East Texas Oil Field remains a symbol of America's energy boom, illustrating the transformative impact of large-scale oil production on regional economies and national energy security.
