CONSTRUCTION ON HOOVER DAM!

On July 7, 1930, preliminary construction officially began on the Hoover Dam, marking the start of one of the greatest engineering feats in American history.

The dam, initially known as Boulder Dam, was built during the Great Depression and offered thousands of jobs to struggling workers. Construction involved building roads, rail lines, and the company town of Boulder City to support the workforce. Over 21,000 men worked on the dam, facing harsh conditions that resulted in nearly 100 documented deaths on site. When completed in 1935, Hoover Dam stood as the tallest in the world at 726 feet and remains a vital source of electricity. Its hydroelectric plant helps power parts of Nevada, Arizona, and California. The dam has since become a National Historic Landmark and a symbol of American perseverance and innovation.
