OIL DISCOVERY IN THE AMAZON!

08:04 Agua Caliente was first spudded on July 4, 1938, becoming the first well drilled in the Amazon region. After months spent transporting materials from California to Pucallpa, Peru, and then along the Ucayali River to Agua Caliente, the well was successfully drilled. This marked a major turning point that changed the Amazon forever. Over the past 87 years, a total of 35 wells have been drilled in the Agua Caliente field, resulting in the production of 15 million barrels of oil. The name "Agua Caliente" translates to "hot water" in English, likely referencing the natural hot springs found near the discovery well.
